We interviewed Joey Conwill, the Wellness Director for the Mississippi Gulf Coast Blossman Family YMCA (MGCYMCA) in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. According to Joey, the YMCA is a non-profit organization that has given over $83,000 in outreach and financial assistance for childcare, fitness and youth programs all along the MS Gulf Coast, just this year. Financial assistance is available to lower income members as well as Corporate and Military Discounts.

How to Stand Out

In Joey’s opinion, what separates their gym from other gyms is the fact that the YMCA is about strengthening the community through Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility.

The MGC YMCA is a full service facility with free group fitness classes including Les Mills, free childcare while you work out, an indoor walking track, indoor and outdoor pool, locker rooms, steam room, and hot tub. The YMCA has a full line out cardio and strength equipment and free weights. Personal trainers are available to assist members on the floor at any time. We have classes that range from a “Baby and Me YOGA” to a “Sit & Fit” class for our active adults!

Their YMCA has a number of programs such as youth sports, preschool, afterschool and before school, swim lessons, etc. Scholarships are available for all programs. It is important to remember that the YCMA is a charity putting resources and opportunity back into YOUR community!
